CARRICK ON SHANNON LOCAL HISTORY CENTRE
The Carrick-on-Shannon Local History Centre was opened in May 2010 to house various collections. The History Centre is a joint project of the Historical Society and the Heritage Group. Many collections and items of interest were gratefully accepted to add to the holdings of the Historical Society, and these items are on display, with loans and donations of other items being added continually. Display kiosks include People & Places, The Arts, Sports, Education, Trade & Commerce, Literature, and various artefacts and memorabilia of bye-gone ages. Books, publications, cds & dvds on topics such as parish histories,
The River Shannon, local archaeology, and fiction and non-fiction relating to the area are available for viewing.
Admission is free of charge but contributions to its upkeep are gratefully accepted.
